Willy has been singing professionally most of this working life since leaving an engineering job in his twenties. Folk music has always been the music he loves most but it was the Northern working men’s club circuit in England that he worked in for a lot of years. In the last few years he has returned to his first love of playing and singing folk and country music.
Over the last few years he has started writing songs and one of them “The Men of Twenty Three” which was a tribute to his grandfather, Andrew Thomson and his fellow miners, who were affected by the 1923 Redding pit disaster, was chosen for an album “The Falkirk Music Pot”. The album was produced by Brian McNeil and released on Greentrax Recordings.
